Learning Space

KCP prides itself on being a school with no computers and no battery-operated toys. Our toys are playdough, dirt, rocks, paint, blocks, trucks, Legos, books, dolls, dishes, dress-up clothes, and many other imaginative and sensory toys. These toys and the many other activities children experience at KCP provide self-driven imaginative play opportunities for them to promote cognitive, social/emotional, and motor development.

KCP classes also organize regular field trips to offsite locations such as pumpkin farms, Kenmore Airport, Kirkland Performance Center, the Kirkland Library and downtown Seattle. The children are given the opportunity to experience public transit, tour a local fire station, and meet community helpers such as police men/women and postal workers.

Our Interior Classrooms Include:
  • Art Room: creative projects, sensory play
  • Quiet Room: books, puzzles, science, projects, building toys
  • Active Room: pretend play, visual-spatial activities, large motor skill development
Our Outdoor Space Includes:
  • Outdoor learning area
  • Large school bus play structure
  • Swings and slides
  • Small wooded area
  • Grass area for ball and bubble play
  • Secured area for bikes and riding toys
