What is a Co-op?

A co-op preschool is operated by parents and staffed by professional teachers. Parents act as assistant teachers, with our teacher's input and guidance.

KCP is affiliated with Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) to provide parent education.  Parents in our program are enrolled at LWTech and earn 2 college credits per quarter.

Benefits of Working at KCP:
  • Gives you, your child, and the school an enriched educational experience
  • Enables increase of weekly classroom activities due to high parent/child ratio
  • Keeps tuition costs low

Parents Are Required To:
  • Work a weekly classroom shift
  • Attend a monthly parent meeting
  • Fulfill a committee job or board position
  • Participate in classroom set-up or pack-up
Read Parent Involvement on the FAQ page for more details.

Monthly Parent Meetings Help Parents:
  • Find answers on parenting topics, such as bedtime struggles, sibling rivalry, kindergarten readiness and nutrition
  • Create a sense of normalcy and fellowship at a time when parenting is often isolating and frustrating
  • Participate in a supportive community of like-minded parents

strong bond with their community."
